To start off, I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year and all the best for the new year to come! I hope that you all achieve your goals that you set, whether they be new or old.
Similar to many others, I do enjoy setting goals and resolutions even though the New Year is technically the same as just any other day. I love entertaining the idea of a clean slate. However, I find that many of us, myself included, like to imagine that everything will suddenly change and we will become the perfect vision we have of ourselves.
At the end of the day, we have to come to the realization that nothing will change unless we choose to. There’s a difference between wanting something and choosing something. When we want something, we desire it immensely, but may not go through the necessary actions that lead us to our goals. Due to this, we may go through a new year, but mentally, we are the same person as we always were. The idea of “new year, new me” becomes “new year, same me”. But when we choose something, we are making a commitment to ourselves; a thorough decision to meet our end goal. And when you choose to go through with your end goal, don’t be discouraged by a bad day, week, or month. Choose to move forward, as every day is a new start and another chance for you to carry through to meet your end goal.
Therefore, this year, I hope that you all choose to meet your goals/revolutions. May this year be your best year yet!
